seminar: Color, Connections, and Stereo: from Frenet to Cartan
speaker: Steven W. Zucker (Yale University)abstract: We consider problems in early visual information processing from a differential-geometric perspective. Identifying the columnar organization prevalent in primate neurobiology with the tangent bundle, we consider how long-range horizontal connections relate to connection forms (curvatures). Their interpretation for boundary detection, color spreading, and stereo matching are described.
