seminar: Quantum vorticity in dilute Bose gases and Neutron Stars
speaker: Armen Sedrakian (Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Tuebingen)abstract: I will discuss the properties of rapidly rotating superfluids, whose rotation is supported by an array of quantum vortices. Such systems are realized in experiments on dilute Bose gases and can exist in the interiors of neutron stars. The tensor virial method will be exposed and utilised to study the hydrodynamic modes of rotating superfluids confined either by harmonic trapping or self-gravitation.
