Many-body theory of inhomogeneous superfluids

Correlated states at near quantum critical points

speaker: Andrew J. Schofield (University of Birmingham)

abstract: The appearance of order phases in the vicinity of quantum critical points has led to renewed interest in types of correlated states that can arise in the presence of interactions. Superconductivity is one obvious one, but experimentally one sees metal-to-metal transitions too. These could be the analogue of superconductivity but in the particle-hole rather than particle-particle channel. They could retain the same richness of structure being inhomogeneous in either momentum- or real-space.
