seminar: Randomness and Complexity in Networks

abstract: Analytic results exist for networks formed using simple principles yet these also show a surprising amount of structure. These are good models of some systems and important null models otherwise. I will look at results for network growth and searches using random walks. I will also look at the evolution for graphs of constant size giving exact results, discussing the relationship to models in statistical physics, population genetics and cultural transmission.
