seminar: Introduction to the analysis of load balancing protocols
speaker: Eli Upfal (Brown University)abstract: We will introduce the concepts of static and dynamic analysis of load balancing protocols and discuss several useful mathematical tools for such analysis, including (1) an algebraic technique that relates the load balancing progress to the network topology; (2) stability results for infinite Markov chain; and (3) drifting criteria for more general stochastic systems.
