seminar: The origin of geometric mechanics in Lagrange
speaker: Franco Magri (Dipartimento di Matematica- Universita' di Milano Bicocca)abstract: I will read the fourth chapter of the Mecanique Analytique of Lagrange from a contemporary perspective. The reading is a good occasion to appreciate the modernity of the Lagrange's thought on the principles of Mechanics, and to review a crucial moment of the history of this discipline.
