abstract: We discuss some of Johann Bernoulli's writings addressed against Newton and his acolytes. We will focus on Bernoulli's critical analysis of the Newtonian approch to central force motion. I will show that these criticisms reveal the different agendas endorsed by the group based in Oxford, Cambridge and London whose leader was Newton, and the group scattered in Europe (mostly in Basel and Paris) whose main representatives were Leibniz and Bernoulli.
