abstract: I will analyse four-dimensional self-dual gravitational instantons with potentially non-vanishing cosmological constant, which exhibit a natural foliation into three-dimensional homogeneous subspaces evolving in Euclidean time. I will show that their dynamics coincide precisely with a geometric flow on the corresponding family of three-dimensional homogeneous spaces, driven by the Ricci tensor plus an SU(2) gauge connection inherited from O(4). This phenomenon is exhibited for all Bianchi classes and captures all known examples such as Taub-NUT, Eguchi-Hanson or Fubini-Study solutions. I will also make contact with the recently proposed non-Lorentz-invariant theories of gravity.
