Surfaces of bounded mean curvature in Riemannian manifolds
speaker: Harish Seshadri (Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore)abstract: I will discuss a compactness theorem for families of surfaces with bounded mean curvature and area in Riemannian manifolds. A consequence of this result is an uniform bound on the diameter of such surfaces. The proof of these results is based on Gromov's compactness theorem for J-holomorphic curves in symplectic manifolds.
