IQIS2009: Italian Quantum Information Science Conference 2009

How far can you push optimal control of quantum operations?

speaker: Tommaso Calarco (University of Ulm, Institute for Quantum Information Processing)

abstract: Quantum optimal control theory is a well established set of methods that can be applied to systematically improve the fidelity of quantum logical operations. They have been shown to be robust with respect to a broad range of experimental imperfections. Their ultimate limits, in particular concerning gate speeds, will be discussed in this talk in the light of examples from quantum computation and quantum communication.
