Distributional estimates for the Carleson-Hunt operator and the bilinear Hilbert transform

abstract: Time-frequency analysis is used to prove an estimate of Hunt concerning the distribution function of the Carleson-Hunt operator acting on characteristic functions of measurable sets. An analogous estimate is proved for the bilinear Hilbert transform.
