abstract: In this talk I will discuss the role of the non-branching assumption in MCP(K,N) and CD(K,N) spaces via examples that are subsets of the plane with the supremum norm. The focus will be on the local-to-global property, splitting and maximal diameter theo- rems, dimensions, tangents and existence of optimal transport maps. Part of the results are joint work with Christian Ketterer
