“Plateau’s problem in metric spaces and applications”
speaker: Stefan Wenger (University of Fribourg)abstract: We solve the classical problem of Plateau in the setting of metric spaces. We then outline applications of our solution to problems in several fi in particular, the analysis on metric spaces, metric geometry, and geometric group theory. For example, we show how existence and regularity of area minimizing discs can be used to fi canonical parametrizations of metric surfaces. Based on a series of joint papers with Alexander Lytchak.
