abstract: I will discuss some basic properties of a nonlocal perimeter functional inspired by the Minkowski content. The main feature of such functional is that at large scales it resembles the perimeter, but on small scales presents predominant volume contributions, giving rise to a sort of nonlocal behavior, which may produce losses of regularity and compactness properties. I will present some results on existence and properties of minimizers, and I will also describe the construction of plane-like minimizers in periodic media.
