seminar: Some commutator methods used in dynamical systems
speaker: Lucia Dora Simonelli (ICTP Trieste)abstract: We will describe certain commutator methods used in the study of the spectral properties of parabolic systems. Specifically, we will focus on the techniques used to determine the spectrum of the time-changes of the horocycle flow and an effort to generalize these methods to create conditions under which a general parabolic flowmap would be expected to have absolutely continuous spectrum
