Capacity, quasilocal mass and singular fill-ins
speaker: Luen-Fai Tam (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)abstract: In this talk, we will discuss a quasi-local mass quantity introduced by Mantoulidis and Miao, which is motivated by the positivity of the Brown-York quasi-local mass. The quantity is related to the total mean curvature of a surface when it is isometrically embedded as the boundary of a compact three manifold $M$ with nonnegative scalar curvature. We will consider the situation that the metric on $M$ may be singular. We will apply the results to study the capacity of the compact boundary of an asymptotically flat three manifold with nonnegative scalar curvature. Some characterization of the Riemannian Schwarzschild three manifold will be given.
