abstract: Random walks with random rates (or "trap models") are among the few disordered systems which are amenable to analysis through present probabilistic techniques and for which a rigorous study of non-equilibrium behavior can be carried out. In this talk we will describe one such model and show that glassy phenomena such as aging take place. To do so we will prove that the random walk converges to a singular diffusion and give criteria for the convergence of aging functionals.
