seminar: A transfer operator approach to the cohomological equation
speaker: Mauro Artigiani (Universidad de los Andes)abstract: The study of the cohomological equation in parabolic dynamics has a long and rich history, which is linked to problems of linearization and, more generally, to the study of ergodic integrals of observables. Giulietti and Liverani showed that transfer operators of the renormalizing dynamics, which is hyperbolic, can be used to investigate the existence and regularity of solutions to the cohomological equation. In this talk, we discuss a generalization of their ideas to the setting of translation surfaces, vertical flow on them and the Teichmueller geodesic flow.
