seminar: Results and open problems on the Perona-Malik equation
speaker: Massimo Gobbino (University of Pisa)abstract: The Perona-Malik equation is a forward-bacward parabolic equation for which a notion of (even local) solution is still missing in one dimension. We will consider the problem of existence of local and global solutions, and a related recent Bernstein-type result. We will show several gradient estimates one can expect from solutionsto the equation, both in one and in any dimension. Several open problems and conjectures will be discussed.
