abstract: A translation surface is a collection of polygons in the plane with parallel sides identified by translation to form a Riemann surface with a singular Euclidean structure. We will give a class of surfaces where we know that the geodesic flows are disjoint dynamical systems for almost every direction. The solution is connected to understanding pairs of saddle connections, which are a special type of closed geodesic. This is based on joint work with Claire Burrin and Jon Chaika.
