seminar: Boundary terms and symplectic structure in the Chern-Simons formulation of 2+1 gravity
speaker: Bernd Schroers (Department of Mathematics, Heriot-Watt University)abstract: I will explain how the boundary of an open universe can be treated as a non-standard puncture in the the Chern-Simons formulation of 2+1 dimensional gravity, and how the resulting symplectic structure on phase space can be determined explicitly. The talk is based on joint work with Catherine Meusburger
