seminar: Il trattato pseudo-aristotelico le Questioni meccaniche
speaker: Gianni Micheli (Università degli Studi di Milano)abstract: The pseudo aristotelian mechanical problems is an interesting book because it is the only treatise of the aristotelian mathematical physics extant. The work was not written by Aristotle, but by a follower of the aristotelian school. The report will try to explain the argumentative structure of the treatise in the light of the aristotelian conception of the scientific research and particularly the following points: 1) Definition of the mechanical phenomenon. 2) Several concrete cases analysed and the application to them of the explanatory principle.
