seminar: An informal introduction to molecular motors
speaker: Giovanni Jona-Lasinio (Università di Roma "La Sapienza")abstract: Molecular motors are basic in the dynamics of biological cells. In the last decade they have emerged as an interesting subject in statistical mechanics and have been modeled with stochastic differential equations and particle systems. We shall briefly illustrate the main idea and some of its mathematical realizations.
