Research Directions

In the last years, the research in Complex Analysis has moved from the classical questions of this subject to interact with other mathematical topics. Complex Analysis methods have been crucial in the recent developments of the inverse (and direct) problems of spectral theory of self-adjoint differential operators, in probability theory (e.g., the Schramm-Loewner evolution equations), in signal processing (Gabor analysis), in the theory of random matrices, in conformal field theory, in the statistical analysis of two-dimensional critical networks. On the other side, the ergodic analysis of rational transformations is a research topic extremely rich and rapidly expanding. It uses many tools of Complex Analysis and geometry and motivates many of its questions. One can also mention not only the recent and fruitful interactions of pluripotential theory and differential and Kähler geometry, but also the more and more strongly interaction between Complex Analysis and analytic and algebraic geometry. KAWA is a Winterschool & Workshop in Complex Analysis and Applications to Complex Dynamics and Geometry. KAWA was first organized in Toulouse in 2010 as an evolution of the workshops “Journ ́ees Complexes du Sud” (which were organized by mathematicians working in the area of complex analysis in Barcelona, Bordeaux, Marseille and Toulouse from 1984 to 2009) with the aim of ensuring both a transmission of knowledge acquired over the last decades in Complex Analysis and training of young people and senior researchers to these areas of interactions. To this aim, KAWA is organized as a one-week of school consisting of 3 or 4 courses, followed by a mini-workshop. This will be the sixth edition of KAWA, and the first five editions of KAWA were organized in: Toulouse&Albi (2010), Marseille at CIRM (2011), Barcelona (2012), Toulouse&Albi (2013), Marseille at CIRM (2014) joint with NORDAN. Information about previous editions can be found at http://www.ub.edu/kawa6/ More detailed information can be found at http://www.ub.edu/kawa6/

The winter school courses will run from Monday, 11 a.m., the 23th of March 2015, to Thursday morning the 26th of March 2015.

The workshop will start the evening of Thursday the 26th of March 2015 and end on Saturday the 28th of March 2015.

Both events will be hosted by the Centro di Ricerca Matematica Ennio De Giorgi, Pisa, Italy.
