This event is part of an intensive research period:
Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations.
Variational methods play an important role in material science, for instance in the derivation of lower dimensional models from higher dimensional ones via Gamma-convergence, the relations between discrete and continuous models, the construction of rate-independent flows by the iteration of a minimization scheme. In this meeting some of the main experts in this fields, as well as younger researchers, will present the most recent research developments.
