abstract: A dual approach is taken towards detecting equality and inequality of numerical quantities. The purpose is to form groups as homogeneous as may be useful and possible. The procedure has been empirically applied some times in the past within financial contexts. The dual approach refers to viewing entropy (1) as belonging to one of the indicators of majorization, and (2) as the Kullback information measure. Some numerical and theoretical illustrations will be given.
