Hamiltonian Perturbation Theory: Separatrix Splitting, Theory and Applications

Exponentially small splitting of separatrices for meromorphic Hamiltonian systems

speaker: Marcel Guardia (UPC, Barcelona)

abstract: We study the splitting of separatrices phenomenon which arises when one considers a Hamiltonian system of one degree of freedom with a fast periodic or quasiperiodic in time meromorphic perturbation. We show how the exponentially small distance between the perturbed invariant manifolds depends strongly on the width of the analyticity strip of the Hamiltonian. This is a joint work with Tere Seara.
