course: The Surface Subgroup Theorem and the Ehrenpreis conjecture
speaker: Jeremy Kahn (CUNY)abstract: I will present a careful outline of the proofs of the Surface Subgroup Theorem and the Ehrenpreis conjecture, with an emphasis on the proof of the Ehrenpreis conjecture. If time permits I will include one lecture on some new applications of this theory.
