Stochastic Models of Active Brownian Particles

speaker: Lutz Schimansky-Geier (Humboldt University, Berlin)

abstract: In my talk I will review noise effect in ensembles of self-propelled (active Brownian) particles. These particles possess a propulsive mechanism which enables them to move with non-vanishing speed. In addition, their motion is affected by noise and by mutual interactions of the particle. I will discuss the stationary velocity distribution density and diffusive properties of single particles. For many-particle-systems I will show different kinds of collective behavior. The stability properties of these spatio-temporal structures is investigated on behalf of the bifurcations of the corresponding transport equations of the considered ensemble.
