Classical and quantum gravity in 3 dimensions

seminar: Quantum hyperbolic geometry

abstract: Finding a hyperbolic metric on a manifold amounts to solving certain polynomial equations. We will introduce a non-commutative deformation of this algebraic problem. In dimension 2, the corresponding Topological Quantum Field Theory is centered on the representation theory of the quantum Teichmuller space of Chekhov-Fock-Kashaev. In dimension 3, this gives an invariant of hyperbolic 3-manifolds which is a variation of the Baseilhac-Benedetti-Kashaev invariant.
